Our goal is to bring sustainable development through education and programs for children at risk.

WHO WE HELP

Impact South Sudan focuses on refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who have witnessed incredible violence, fled their homes, and suffered immensely. Our goal is to bring sustainable development through education and programs for children at risk.

WHAT WE DO

Educational Development. The vast majority of teachers in South Sudan lack appropriate training. Teaching is done by an old-fashioned method, and students who can’t learn on their own fall behind and eventually drop out.

Emmanuel Christian College (ECC) seeks to be a powerhouse for change and educational development through introducing the student-centred approach to teaching and learning, which has the power to transform the country.

An education system that teaches literacy and higher-level thinking produces students who can assess, evaluate, and synthesize, which in turn lays a foundation for a stronger economy and improved social systems and infrastructure.

Every 28 graduates from the education program means 1,000 children will have qualified teachers in their classrooms. Students are breaking through obstacles and learning how to live at peace within their own families and with people from different backgrounds. South Sudan is being changed life by life, classroom by classroom, and community by community.

Confident Children Out of Conflict (CCC). The CCC is a South Sudanese NGO founded in 2007 to respond to the needs of vulnerable street children in Juba, mainly girls and young women that are victims of or at-risk for Gender-Based Violence.

The vision of CCC is to provide vulnerable children with a safe space to sleep, eat, learn and play so they can develop into young adults who have fulfilled their potential. CCC also works to support households as they develop a protective environment for safe reintegration of these children into their communities.

CCC has four main objectives:

  • House orphans and at-risk children in a clean, joyful residential centre
  • Educate children through school scholarships and extracurricular programs
  • Reunify children with families when it is safe to do so
  • Facilitate discussions and training on gender-based violence, HIV, healthy living, vocational skills, and small business development

HOW YOU CAN HELP

International Teams Canada partners with Confident Children out of Conflict (CCC) on the educational aspect of their program. We are coming alongside CCC to provide school fees, supplies, and uniforms for the girls that live in CCC.

By investing in the work iTeams does with Emmanuel Christian College, you’ll be helping to change the educational system in South Sudan.
