Burkina Faso, in West Africa, features a vibrant cultural tapestry. Challenges include limited access to education and healthcare. With a poverty rate of approximately 40%, concerted efforts are crucial for addressing socio-economic disparities and fostering sustainable development.
Our partners in Burkina Faso, the Centre de Formation Professionelle en Construction (CFPC) and the Village of Hope (VOH), are instrumental in bringing about positive change through education, healthcare, and vocational training for numerous children and young people each year.
CFPC is a vocational training center which specifically focuses on addressing gender equality within the context of practical construction skills. Recognizing the importance of empowering both young women and men, CFPC is committed to providing equal opportunities for all, breaking down barriers and stereotypes that may limit individuals based on their gender.
By actively challenging societal norms and fostering an inclusive learning environment, CFPC aims to contribute to a more equitable society where everyone can thrive, irrespective of gender. This expands individual opportunities and also contributes to a more diverse and skilled workforce in Burkina Faso.
The Village of Hope (VOH) is committed to providing quality education, healthcare, and nutrition for over 250 children. They have a special focus on being a refuge for children who have had to flee from violence. By addressing the immediate needs of these vulnerable children, VOH plays a crucial role in the healing and restoration of lives impacted by the trauma of violence.
Our partners in Burkina Faso strive to break down barriers, empower individuals, and build a future where everyone, regardless of gender, can realize their full potential and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
Matthew is a CFPC graduate who came from a very poor family. He always struggled in school and his family couldn’t afford to pay his school fees, so he was dismissed from formal education. He came to CFPC feeling hopeless, disqualified and rejected, but knowing that he needed an opportunity to help him have success in the future.
Not only was Matthew taught masonry skills, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship at CFPC, but he was also taught valuable life skills such as connecting with people, leading with purpose and dignity, and serving his community. Matthew has grown as a business owner and he now has his own employees and has been training others in masonry. He was able to buy a property and build a house and is hoping to soon be able to rebuild his parents’ home. Because of the support and training that Matthew received from CFPC, today he is financially independent and has hope for his family and his future!
